What's in my water?

Short pages on common smells, tastes, and risks — then find a certified lab. We do not sell filters or kits.

Cloudy tap water

Turbidity and sediment can hide bacteria risk or point to plumbing issues. A certified lab can tell you what is in the cloud.

Rotten egg smell in water

Hydrogen sulfide and sulfur bacteria cause the smell. Test before you buy a filter that only masks it.

Lead in drinking water

Lead usually comes from plumbing, not the source. A first-draw sample at a certified lab is the right start.

Bacteria in well water

Coliform bacteria in a private well is a health signal. Use a certified lab and follow its hold-time rules.

Nitrate in well water

Nitrate matters for infants and pregnant people. Wells near agriculture should test nitrate at a certified lab.

PFAS in drinking water

PFAS needs a certified panel, not a general metals package. Confirm PFAS scope with the lab before you sample.

Chlorine taste in tap water

Chlorine taste is common in city water. Test if smell or taste persists, or if you need baseline metals after treatment.
